The first thing we had to do was to set a goal. I thought it was strange, literally my thoughts were: what does this woman want from me?! But along the ride, I understood how important it was to have focus, especially if I wanted to become successful as a manager.
My goal was to improve my productivity with 35%, I have to say I had no faith in this goal, I really thought this is too far-fetched. With the guidance of Mireille I managed to improve my productivity not with 35%, but with 80%. I reached this by letting go of my anxiety and insecurity. Not easy, because this is an internal journey, but I learned to trust the process. Looking back I am happy to have gone through this process of change!
I got to know myself much better. These days I am much calmer, am more solution oriented, and my self-esteem has grown! I am becoming the manager that I need to be!
In my first meeting Mireille asked me what I would like to work on. I told her that my greatest challenge is to be patient, and that I really was going to need that when leading my team as an upcoming manager.
During the Mentorship Development Program we had weekly one-on-one coaching and group coaching. In these coaching sessions you get confronted with yourself. At times, after the coaching sessions, I had emotional breakdowns. I had to look deep inside myself, and often I did not like what I saw. But, this introspection has helped me! I did become self-aware, and slowly I started changing.
Before the course I was getting angry quickly, showed little empathy to my team and my stress level was high. I was like a ticking time bomb. Now, I feel like a guiding light, I am getting more patient. I learned to keep thinking positive and learned that change starts within you.
After being in the program for two months my productivity improved with 66%!
Before I started coaching, I was often aggressive, made excuses, was disorganized, was restless, did not prioritize, was often not leading, on the contrary I was passive and I blamed others for my mistakes.
